Terms of use and disclaimer

§ 1 Provider and scope

The service Van Wiring (campervan electrics planner) at van-wiring.com is operated by Samuel Jahn, Karlstrasse 118, 80335 München (“we”). These terms apply to the use of the website and the planning tool. By using them you agree to these terms.

§ 2 What the planner does

The planner is a free tool for planning the 12/24 V electrics of a vehicle. From your input it calculates suggestions for battery, solar, cable sizes and fuses, checks connections against fixed rules and creates a shopping list and a connection guide.

The calculations are based on simplified models and typical values (e.g. sun hours, efficiencies, cable temperature). They replace neither an on-site inspection nor the manufacturers' specifications. We cannot guarantee that the service is always available or free of errors, and we may change or discontinue it at any time.

§ 3 Not professional design – safety first

1. The planner is a planning aid and not professional design. You are responsible for the implementation yourself.
2. Work on 230 V (shore power, inverter output, sockets, RCDs) may only be carried out by qualified electricians. Have the finished 230 V installation inspected by a qualified electrician.
3. 12/24 V systems can also cause fires if something is wrong. Only do the work if you feel confident doing it, and follow the order and safety notes of the guide.
4. Manufacturers' specifications take precedence. If the instructions or datasheets of your devices contradict the planner's results, the manufacturer applies.
5. Installations can affect the vehicle's type approval or gas/electrical inspections. Clarify this before installing, e.g. with a testing organisation.

§ 4 Your obligations

• Make your input (power ratings, cable lengths, devices) as accurate as possible – the results can only be as good as the input.
• Don't put personal data of third parties or unlawful content into titles.
• Don't access the service in an automated way and don't circumvent technical protection measures.

§ 5 Saved plans

A saved plan can be viewed by anyone who knows its link. Only the browser it was created in can edit it; the edit key is stored there. If it is lost (e.g. by clearing browser data), we cannot restore it – but you can continue editing the plan as a copy. With an account you can also edit your plans wherever you are signed in. Plans are deleted 24 months after their last change. There is no entitlement to permanent storage.

§ 6 Liability

1. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for damage resulting from injury to life, body or health and under the German Product Liability Act.
2. As the planner is free of charge, we are otherwise not liable for slight negligence.
3. We are not liable for damage arising because results were implemented without your own checks, manufacturers' specifications were disregarded or work on 230 V was not carried out by a qualified electrician.

§ 7 Products, prices and advertising

Product and manufacturer information comes from public datasheets; we do not guarantee that it is up to date. Links marked with * are affiliate links to Amazon: if you buy through them, we receive a commission; the price stays the same for you. Purchase contracts are concluded exclusively with the respective retailer. Advertisements are marked as “Ad”.

§ 8 Changes and applicable law

We may change these terms with effect for the future; the current version is always on this page. German law applies. If you are a consumer, mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected.
